HOW PERMANENT IS PERMANENT?
Permanent Cosmetics is considered permanent because once the pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin it cannot be washed off like traditional cosmetics. However, fading can and will occur.
When the Color is freshly applied it should always look "too dark." After the healing process is complete there will be an obvious loss of color. After the initial application of color, a follow up procedure may be necessary to achieve the correct level of color saturation.
Generally, after the original application and follow up of Permanent Cosmetics are complete, the longevity of pigment in the skin is 3 to 5 years. The pigment we use will fade over time because of many factors such as skin exfoliation (both natural and chemically induced), sun exposure and medication.
Sun exposure is the major reason pigment fades. Daily use of sunscreen and an effort to avoid sun exposure will help. Permanent Cosmetics will look best when the original Technician maintains it every year, or as needed, depending on the client's pigment retention.
Permanent Cosmetics is not a carbon-based tattoo. A tattoo stays with the recipient for a lifetime. Permanent Cosmetics last 3 to 5 years. This allows the client the flexibility to modify their taste and age change.
